1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
If you read that and think it’s a false statement, then I don’t know what planet you are living on. If it makes you angry, or leads you to scoff at the wisdom put down thousands of years ago, then it might be time for you to look inside your heart to see why. Then again, maybe you don’t care at all, which brings me back to the ants. The one who stayed low on the wall wasn’t paying attention. It wandered about lost in its own world. The ant who climbed high, sensed the impending danger and moved to safety. It probably didn’t understand why it was important to seek higher ground, but something called it to do so.
The time has ALWAYS been coming to make a choice. The ants symbolize us. Are you lost in the world not paying attention? Are you consumed with things that you think will make you happy like material possessions, eating and drinking to excess, sexual depravity or worse? Have you experienced the death of a loved one and continue to hold on to grief? Or maybe you or someone you love is experiencing an illness so debilitating that it binds you to the core of your being in fear. Do you feel miserable and not even understand why?
Perhaps it is time to assess yourself and your surroundings before you die lost like the ant in the shower. I can say for certain, that if you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you will never doubt what it means to LIVE a life filled with the love of Jesus Christ. It’s like there is a switch inside each of us that is not flipped to the ‘ON’ position. Until we realize that there has been POWER connected to us the entire time, we will remain forever in darkness thinking that there is plenty of light. Personally, I have never been happier in my life. I never understood what was missing; I was the worst offender of mocking Bible believing Christians. I’m just thankful that I found the ‘ON’ button before it was too late.
For the naysayers I will close with this… Fine, you think that Jesus Christ is a bunch of b.s. – You think, how can ONE man be the only way to eternal life? Or you think there isn’t even such a thing as an after-life, when we die we are just dead! But what if you are WRONG? What if you do go to a terrible place and remain there forever? Is it worth the risk? Why not dip your toe into reading the greatest book that has ever been written. You don’t even have to agree with that statement, but what could it hurt to open the pages of the Bible? I would suggest starting in the book of Matthew. I’m not saying you have to go to church or venture into some organized religion, either. What I am saying is that if you are wrong, when you die, you’ll wish that you had paid attention like the ant who lived. Sometimes water is death, but the Living Water of Jesus Christ is always life.
